Folk Horror Course: City Screen

17th September 2018

What is folk horror and why is it enjoying a revival?

Join ‘Starburst’ critic and writer Jon Towlson at City Screen for a journey into the Wyrd! Towlson is a film critic and the author of Candyman (Auteur, 2018), and Subversive Horror Cinema: Countercultural Messages of Films from Frankenstein to the Present (McFarland, 2014).

In this four week course starting in October, this exclusive City Screen course explores the subject of folk horror through the medium of film.

Using material from classics like The Wicker Man (1973) and Witchfinder General (1968) to Eden Lake (2008), we gaze into British cinema’s dark furrows to ask what lies beyond England’s green and pleasant land..?

The single price of £37/£35 concs/£33 Members covers all four Monday nights: 15, 22, 29 October and 5 November 2018.
