This Saturday, 6 December, saw shoppers take the streets of York, filling their bags ready for stockings and presents to go under the tree this Christmas. With the Minster bells chiming in the background over 16,000 shoppers came and supported the city’s small businesses, at the Small Business Saturday Market.
Following the shopping heavyweights Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday looks to inspire and celebrate those small businesses that continue to be the bread and butter of the UK’s economy. York’s very own celebratory event saw an array of independents unite in a marquee that took over Duncombe Place, from microbreweries to designers, chocolatiers, bakers and tailors.
Organised by Proudly in York, One&Other, York Means Business at the City of York Council, in partnership with iZettle and Small Business Saturday and supported by the CityConnectWiFi York’s residents and visitors came in their masses to show their support to the businesses that make our city truly unique.
